Bitter Fire near Paicines 100% contained
PAICINES, Calif. (KION) UPDATE 6/21/20 6:40 p.m. Cal Fire said the Bitter Fire is 100 percent contained at 895 acres.
UPDATE 6/19/2020 6 a.m. The Bitter Fire is now 80% contained at 800 acres, according to Cal Fire.
UPDATE 6/18/2020 10 a.m. Cal Fire said the Bitter Fire south of Paicines has grown to about 800 acres, but it is now up to 65% contained.
UPDATE 6/17/2020 9 a.m. Cal Fire said the Bitter Fire in San Benito County 40% contained at about 700 acres.
UPDATE 6/16/2020 5:30 p.m. The Bitter Fire burning south of Paicines is now up to about 500 acres and about 10% contained, according to Cal Fire.
Cal Fire was called to a vegetation fire at around 12:30 p.m. on Highway 25 near Bitterwater Road. Two Chief officers, eight aircraft, 10 fire engines, two dozers, three hand crews, three water tenders and a fire investigator are at the scene.
It has the potential to get up to 2,000 acres, but Cal Fire said it is in a remote area and no structures are threatened.
The cause is under investigation, and no injuries have been reported.
UPDATE 6/16/2020 4 p.m. The Bitter Fire south of Paicines has grown to about 350 acres, according to Cal Fire.
It is still only 10% contained.
UPDATE 6/16/2020 3 p.m. Cal Fire said the Bitter Fire south of Paicines has grown to 80 acres and still 10% contained.
Air tankers, a helicopter, engines, crews and dozers are at the scene.
The fire is off Highway 25 and Hernandez-Coalinga Road.
UPDATE 6/16/2020 2 p.m. Cal Fire said the Bitter Fire south of Paicines has grown to about 60 acres and is still 10% contained.
