18-year-old killed in rollover crash near Hollister Sunday

HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) An 18-year-old male has died as a result of a rollover crash on SR 25 south of Hollister Sunday.

At about 10:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on SR 25 south of Portugese Way. An 18-year-old male and 17-year-old female, both from Hollister, were in the vehicle.

The CHP said the male was speeding while heading south, and for unknown reasons, the vehicle went off the road and went into an embankment, where it rolled over multiple times.

Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehcle. The driver died at the scene, and the passenger had major injuries.

The CHP does not know yet if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash.
