Monte Vista Christian holds drive-through graduation
WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) Dozens of students at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville got a chance to graduate on Saturday in the tradition many schools are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
After driving through campus to the cheers of their teachers, students and their families ended up in the football stadium to receive their diplomas and turn their tassels.
The head of the school shared his thoughts with KION on this unique time.
"Well, you know I think the graduation… our seniors have been really grateful. Our families have been incredible, really patient to help us try to put something together that's special and memorable," said Mitchell Salerno, the MVCS head of school. "And we think today has been just that… really memorable for our seniors where each student gets to walk across the stage and get their diploma."
In addition to their diplomas, each graduate got to hear a special message from on of their teachers read aloud especially for them.
