Northridge Mall in Salinas prepares to reopen

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) After nearly three months under a lock-down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Northridge Mall in Salinas is doing what they can to make sure it's a safe environment for shoppers when they plan on opening come Friday morning at 11 a.m.

Along with social distancing signs and stickers placed throughout the mall, seating has also been adjusted. Seating areas in the food court areas have been spaced out to ensure social distancing guidelines.

In other seating areas around the mall, cushions have been removed to make the cleaning and sanitizing easier on the surfaces. Faux grass seating areas will be able to to be disinfected with the use of a steamer.

Management at the mall tells KION that an announcement will play over the loud-speakers to remind customers of mask and social distancing guidelines every 20 minutes. Security will also have masks on hand for those who forgot theirs or do not have access to one.

The mall plans to open on Friday, June 5th, 2020 at 11 a.m. Stores in the mall will be opening up in stages. Management at the mall is still unsure which stores will be opening first or are involved in the different stages. It will be decided by which business have enough personal protective equipment to follow county guidelines safely and effectively.
