PREVIOUS STORY: Several agencies are responding to a brush fire, according to Andrew Madsen with the U.S. Forest Service.
At last check, Madsen said the fire reported before 11 a.m. Wednesday was about four acres.
The fire broke out above Plaskett Creek Campground along Highway 1.
Because there is currently minimal fire activity in the area, Ft. Hunter Liggett, Big Sur Fire and Cal Fire are all helping to keep the fire small. Madsen said there are 10 engines, two patrol vehicles, a dozer, at least one federal air tanker, a Cal Fire tanker and more at the scene.
Big Sur Fire's Chief Matt Harris said the fire is burning slowly in light to medium grass and brush about a mile from the closest home.
Harris said the Monterey County Sheriff's Office is at the scene and ready to help with evacuations, but so far they are not needed.
