Dozens protest Stay at Home order outside Monterey County Health Department
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Protesters gathered outside the Monterey County Health Department getting honks of support from passers-by.
About two dozen people were there saying that the Governor's Stay at Home order is killing business.
One demonstrator, Mark Ratliff, told KION that he drives for a local resort and says people need to decide for themselves whether to risk their health by going back to work.
"We have the freedom to make a choice, even if it is dangerous. We have a choice to make a decision on our own," Ratliff said.
A freelance makeup artist, Corina Powers, is with the group Latinos for Medical Freedom. She says her business will not be allowed to open until the last phase of reopening.
"I'm walking downtown every day, and every day I'm seeing a new business shutting down. It's a new dream- an American dream shutting down forever," she said.
This protest was one of three held Friday on the Central Coast.
