Man arrested after reportedly dropping loaded revolver while running from Salinas officer

SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A man is facing resisting arrest, probation violation, Shelter in Place violation and multiple gun charges after an incident Tuesday night.

A Salinas police officer and K-9 Robby were driving through Acosta Plaza when 21-year-old Jose Alfredo Mexicano reportedly started running when he saw the patrol car.

As he was running, police said Mexicano dropped a loaded .357 revolver.

Police said that when he went into one of the apartments, officers surrounded it and called out those living there.

Mexicano was eventually arrested. Officers conducted a probation search of the apartment and allegedly found a rifle next to Mexicano's property.
