Salinas, Calif. (KION) - For workers in the medical field, a grassroots movement has started to help keep them and their families healthy - RVs for MDs.

"I just made a post saying you know my husband and I both work in the medical community here in town and are kind of making contingency plans as everyone does," says Dr. Anne Irvine MD of Salinas.

It wasn't long before an RV was in her family driveway.

"Thankfully, I ended up connecting with Don, who is pretty local and he offered to bring over his RV, I think, the next day," Irvine says.

Meantime, Don Landis, a local attorney, is helping out how he can.

"We go to burning man every year," says Landis

But, with this year's event is cancelled, he now has an RV he isn't using.

"It would have been our 10th time, and unfortunately it's not happening," says Landis. "It's just going to sit around not being used and why not have someone use it."

There has been one kink still needed to be worked out.

"The big issue we're having right now is trying to get RV pump out service to them," says Landis.

Meantime, people are preparing for coronavirus numbers in California to worsen.

"The brunt of California is about to surface," says Landis.
"If I had to guess, I think in the coming weeks it will be an absolute necessity," Irvine concluded.

Crucial support to help protect Anne, her husband and two young kids.
