Monterey County Parks closing Easter weekend over concerns about gatherings

PARK CLOSURES

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The County of Monterey announced Tuesday that all Monterey County Parks will be closed Easter weekend.

The closures will begin at dawn Saturday. The Board of Supervisors has not decided if the parks will reopen Monday.

The county said the parks will be closing because of concerns about the potential for gatherings that violate the Shelter in Place order that is in effect.

The Monterey County Board of Supervisors said it supports the order, which says that gatherings of any size with people outside of your household are not allowed. They said they also recognize the importance of fresh air and exercise and thanked those who have complied in the parks.
