California looking for more health care professionals, launches site

(KION) Governor Gavin Newsom announced a new initiative Monday to expand California's health care workforce and find more health care workers to help with a coronavirus surge.

The state is looking for health care professionals with an active license, public health professionals, medical retirees, medical and nursing students or members of a medical disaster response team to join the new California Health Corps.

Those interested can register and get more information at healthcorps.ca.gov.

Newsom also signed an executive order to temporarily expand the health care workforce and allow facilities to staff an at least 50,000 more beds the state needs to treat coronavirus patients.
