Hollister Mayor: City Council man passes away as a result of ongoing medical issues
HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION) Mayor Ignacio Velazquez tells KION that Hollister city councilman, Marty Richman, died Thursday night.
Velazquez said he died as a result of ongoing medical issues and had been receiving treatment at a Salinas hospital for several weeks.
In a statement, Velazquez said, "Sad news to announce. Council member Marty Richman passed away last night. Marty and I spent hundreds of hours on the phone over the years sharing ideas to make our community better. Sometimes we absolutely did not agree with one another and sometimes we absolutely agreed with each other. He was a fighter and fought to the end. My condolences to his family."
