Santa Cruz county rolls out “Quick Response Vehicles” for COVID-19

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) To prepare for possible increased call demand due to COVID-19, Santa Cruz county emergency medical service providers are testing out quick response vehicles.

According to the city of Santa Cruz, the unit, staffed with one paramedic and one EMT, will provide rapid treatment to patients in county experiencing flu like symptoms.

The specialized unit will provide care or advise the patient if their symptoms allow for alternate treatment at home or other facility.

Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, Drew Andre speaks with local fire departments about how these trucks will be utilized.
