Better Ask Barry: The new norm is working from home
Social distancing, and self isolation. Among the first groups asked to quarantine, are older Americans.
That includes KION’s Barry Brown, who filed his story Monday from home.
It turns out that Barry is one of over 5 million Californians 65 and older.
So, how do we respond to the governor’s guidelines? And yes, they ARE guidelines: You can still leave your house, but the idea is to limit the number of people you come in contact with.
If you isolate…
Consider home delivery for groceries, meals and prescriptions.
Reschedule any non-essential appointments.
Exercise and eat good food. This is not the time to binge watch and eat junk.
Those who already work remotely know the basics: Get get out of bed, get dressed and don’t sit around in your bathrobe all day.
Set up a workspace and talk with your employer to arrange the online tools you’ll need to do your job.
If you’re not working, this might be a good time to sit down with a good book.
Or do a puzzle.
It's important for seniors - and everyone - to stay positive because "change is hard."
