Precautions taken for vulnerable homeless population in Santa Cruz amid coronavirus concerns
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz County is monitoring their homeless population, and taking steps to prevent the spread of potential cases of COVID-19 in the local homeless community.
The CDC is recommending shelters to take certain precautions.
“An outbreak of COVID-19 in your community could cause illness among people experiencing homelessness, contribute to an increase in emergency shelter usage, and/or lead to illness and absenteeism among homeless service provider staff,” the CDC said.
Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, details on what new steps homeless shelters like Housing Matters on Coral Street are taking amid coronavirus concerns.
