Making your own hand sanitizer? It’s possible
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) Fears of a potential coronavirus pandemic has people scrambling for hand sanitizer and wipes.
Sanitizer, however, has been hard to come by. Some stores have even had their stock completely wiped out.
But have no fear! There's a strange brew circulating which can help you make your own hand sanitizer from a few simple and easy-to-find products.
"You're going to add a little Vitamin E oil," says Caryn Ross. "That'll make your hands not hurt as bad."
You'll also add isopropyl alcohol, some Tea Tree Oil, a drop of lavendar and one-part aloe vera gel.
"It's like science class!" exclaims Ross.
The CDC recommends hand sanitizer have at least 60% alcohol. 90% alcohol in this mixture should balance out with everything else that's mixed.
Or at least it works out for Caryn, who plans on using the product during a trip with her family.
The World Health Organization, meanwhile, has its own mix of the best type of hand sanitizer to create.
