Monterey County gears up for Super Tuesday voters
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) More people are registered to vote this year than in 2016, according to the Monterey County Board of Elections.
There has been an increase of about 10,000 registered voters, and the Board of Elections said it’s ready for those voters today. With more than 900 volunteers, the preparation is done, and all they need are the voters. But not everyone is voting in person today.
“Currently we have about 38,000 return vote-by-mail ballots,” said Gina Martinez, the assistant registrar of voters in Monterey County. “And so, any voter who still has that vote-by-mail ballot—they can drop it off at any one of our drop boxes in the county.”
Voters can put their ballot in the 24-hour drop box outside the elections office in Salinas, or they can drop it off inside. There’s also the option to drop it off at any of the polling places today. You can find the location of your polling place here: https://www.montereycountyelections.us/voter-guide-and-polling-place-locator/
The Board of Elections is also reminding voters they can update their address and party affiliation on the spot today.
