Monterey County Board of Elections encourages early voting ahead of Super Tuesday
Super Tuesday is getting closer, and many Central Coasters are gearing up to cast their ballots. But they don’t necessarily need to wait until March 3rd to officially submit their vote.
Early voting is a statewide option and the Monterey County Board of Elections is encouraging it.
The Board of Elections said it has received 27,000 ballots so far. And employees hope that more people will take advantage of the opportunity. They say early voters can go into the elections office over the next few days and someone at the counter will help them complete a form. Then, that person will issue a ballot to the voter. That voter can complete their ballot on the spot and return it.
“It is such a convenient opportunity to be able to come in before election day, vote early, get it out of the way so that if something comes up on March third, or maybe the day before, it’s already taken care of and you don’t have to worry about it,” Gina Martinez, Monterey County Elections Department Assistant Registrar of Voters, said.
There’s also the option to vote by mail. California voters can generally fill out a form and request their ballot to be delivered to their homes. But as it gets close to election day, voters’ best bet might be to come in person so that their ballots are submitted on time. The last day to vote early is Monday.
The Monterey County elections office is open for early voting on weekdays between 8AM and 5PM. It’ll also be open on Saturday from 9AM to 5PM.
