Salinas man found guilty of DUI and hit-and-run
58-year-old George David Nunez has been found guilty of hit and run driving, driving while under the influence of alcohol, and driving with a blood alcohol content of .08% or greater.
Officials say on April 25th, 2019, Nunez drove after drinking several beers, collided into a traffic light pole on the intersection of E. Alvin Dr. and N. Main St., and fled the scene.
A civilian witness called 911. When a Salinas Police Office arrived, he says he immediately noticed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
After a full DUI investigation, Nunez was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. A breath test showed his blood alcohol level was .12%.
Nunez will be sentenced on January 31, 2019. He faces up to one year in county jail.
