San Benito County sex offender arrested for allegedly having child porn
SAN BENITO COUNTY, Calif. (KION) A registered sex offender in San Benito County was arrested for allegedly having child pornography after a law enforcement received a tip from Yahoo Inc.
Back in November, the Sheriff's Office and the San Jose police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got a tip from Yahoo that James Joseph Carothers, a registered sex offender, had access to and downloaded child pornography.
Detectives started an investigation and got a search warrant. Carothers was arrested at his place of work and investigators searched his vehicle and home. The Sheriff's Office said several desktop computers and tablets, a camera and several cell phones were found during the search. They have been sent for examination.
Carothers was booked into the San Benito County Jail and charged with possession of child porn with a prior offence.
