GILROY, Calif. (KION) Officers with Hollister-Gilroy area CHP said they were involved in a shooting after a chase that ended in San Jose.

The CHP said the incident started at around 10:45 p.m. Monday when officers tried to stop a Ford Mustang without tail lights. Officers said the driver did not stop and took off at a high rate of speed. They said the speed and dangerous driving threatened public safety.

Officers said they followed the Mustang to a cul-de-sac in San Jose, where it hit a patrol vehicle. The CHP said an officer-involved shooting happened at that point, but did not give any further details.

The Mustang got away, but San Jose police found it later. The investigation led to the arrest of a male juvenile who law enforcement believes was driving the Mustang during the incident.

The officers and suspect were not injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Mario Mendez at 831-662-0511.
