Students and workers join forces at UCSC to strike “unfair wages”
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Workers at the University of California, Santa Cruz are calling for a raise in pay. Skilled trade workers on campus are on strike while they try to reach a contract agreement with the University.
Meanwhile, UCSC graduate students continue their “grade strike” that carried from last year into the current quarter. Graduate students say roughly a third of all grades from last quarter have still not been submitted since the University has not met the graduate students pay increase demands.
Thursday, the two groups joined together for a rally right out front an administrative building on campus. Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, Drew Andre finds out the toll not having these workers has on the campus.
