Twenty cars involved in Aptos street racing incident

APTOS, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz CHP issued multiple citations after about 20 cars were caught apparently trying to have a speed contest on Highway 1.

On Saturday, officers said they saw people in the cars involved leaning out of windows trying to record the race, but they were able to stop the group and issue citations.

The CHP reminds drivers that street racing is both illegal and dangerous, and those involved and nearby are often killed or seriously injured.
