Multi-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Monterey

UPDATE 12/21/19 11:51 p.m. Three vehicles were struck by a wrong way driver in Monterey Saturday night.

The CHP said the wrong way driver suffered a medical episode and entered the the highway travelling the wrong direction at Fremont Street just before 7:00 p.m.

Although initially reported as a major injury accident, the CHP said those involved have minor injuries.

One other vehicle steered to the right and went down an embankment to avoid the crash.

The California Highway Patrol confirms they have received reports of a major injury crash in Monterey.

The CHP said it happened on north bound Highway 1 at Fremont in Monterey.

They could not confirm how many vehicles were involved at this time.
