Salinas Police: Large fire at Wax Paper Company building extinguished

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) UPDATE: The fire at the Salinas Wax Paper Company has been extinguished. Authorities have not yet determined the source of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

UPDATE: The fire in the Salinas Wax Paper Company is under control at this time, according to Salinas Fire Department. The source of the fire remains unclear.

Salinas Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Evarts says that every fire company in the city is on the scene. That includes almost 45 firefighters.

PREVIOUS STORY: Salinas Police confirm fire crews are on scene at what they describe as a large fire at the Salinas Wax Paper Company building.

The fire started around midnight and has been burning at 1111 Abbott Street since then.

Multiple agencies are responding to this fire with no report on injuries at this time.

Abbott Street from Blanco to Harris is currently shut down as crews make their way in and out of the area.
