Castroville man dies after crash on SR 156 Tuesday
CASTROVILLE, Calif. (KION)
UPDATE 12/5/2019 3:00 p.m. A Castroville man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash near Highway 156 at Highway 1 Tuesday night.
The CHP said just before 9 p.m., 26-year-old Daniel Guyton was driving eastbound on State Route 156 from Highway 1. The CHP said he was driving at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle.
Guyton's vehicle went off the road and hit two Caltrans poles before overturning. He was ejected and died of his injuries.
The CHP is still investigating the incident, and reminds drivers to wear seatbelts.
PREVIOUS STORY: The California Highway Patrol confirms one man is dead following a solo-vehicle crash outside of Castroville.
The CHP says the crash happened at the Highway 156 and Highway 1 interchange just before 10 p.m., Tuesday night.
Investigators say they received a call about the driver of a blue truck driving recklessly and possibly under the influence.
Later they received multiple calls that the same blue truck was involved in a solo-vehicle crash.
CHP says the driver of that car, a 26-year-old man, was ejected from the truck and died of injuries sustained when ejected from the vehicle.
Crews are still on scene investigating as of 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
