SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) There are more than 1,000 homeless people in the city of Santa Cruz, and the city manager says there are not adequate facilities to support the growing issue.

The city will roll out proposals for several new ordinances in the coming months with the goal to improve emergency shelter options in Santa Cruz and strictly enforce tents popping up around the city. The first on the agenda is a camping ordinance the city council will vote on Tuesday.

Tonight at 5 and 6 p.m. on KION, Drew Andre speaks with the city manager and city attorney about what changes we could see in Santa Cruz in the near future to help with the homeless crisis.
