Police looking for men suspected of cloning bank cards, stealing cash in Watsonville

Watsonville Police

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION) Watsonville police are looking for two men suspected of cloning bank cards and using them to withdraw hundreds of dollars at an ATM.

Police said the two may be part of an organized crime ring.

There are more than 50 victims, according to Watsonville police, and there is a total of about $20,000 in losses. The cards used by the men were made with card information that was gathered using skimmers at East Lake Gas earlier this month. The Secret Service is analyzing evidence from the gas station, including five skimmers.

Watsonville police are warning the community to check their bank accounts every day, especially if they have recently used a debit or credit card at East Lake Gas.

If there is unusual activity on your account, you are asked to call your bank first, and then call police. Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Tyler Wildey at 831-768-3356.
