Donation drive to benefit homeless youth in Monterey County
MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Community Human Services is hosting a donation drive to gather supplies for unaccompanied homeless youth in Monterey County.
In support of National Runaway and Homeless Youth Prevention Month, CHS will be collecting food, clothes, hygiene products and other basic items through the end of the year.
Items that are most needed include:
- Toiletries, including hand sanitizer, toothbrushes, combs, brushes, deodorant and sanitary products
- Clothing items, including new socks and underwear, sweatshirts and disposable hand warmers
- Snacks, including granola and protein bars, peanut and almond butter, jams and jellies, hot chocolate, instant oatmeal and soup
Items can be dropped off at several donation sites, including:
- Work Horse Bicycles, Monterey,
- Monterey YMCA, Monterey
- Monterey Public Library, Monterey
- Revival Ice Cream, Monterey
- Seaside Library, Seaside
- Seaside Youth Center, Seaside
- Stationaery, Carmel
- Harrison Memorial Library, Carmel
- Rancho Cielo, Salinas
- Monterey County Office of Education, Salinas
- Taylor Farms Headquarters, Salinas
- Hope Horses and Kids, Salinas
- North Monterey County High School, Castroville
- Greenfield Community Center, Greenfield
- Greenfield Union School District Office, Greenfield
- South County YMCA, Soledad
CHS said it helps homeless youth through two programs: Safe Place in Monterey and the Salinas Valley Street Outreach Program.
