Man arrested after search of Salinas home yields heroin, meth

Salinas Police Department’s Violence Suppression Task Force found 3/4 pound of heroin and one ounce of meth during a search of a home on Polermo Drive.

Police said they also found an unregistered 9mm handgun and more than 8,000 dollars in cash.

During the search of the home, police said K9 Oakley indicted to the presence of narcotics in the garage.

Suspect Juan Macias, who police say is an active Sureo gang member, was arrested and lodged at the Monterey County jail where they reportedly found 2 ounces of meth hidden on him.

Macias faces charges ranging from felon in possession of firearm to sales of narcotics.
