Palo Alto man dies in crash on Highway 152

UPDATE 10/30/2019 11:24 a.m. A 27-year-old Palo Alto man died in a crash on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane Wednesday morning.

At around 6:18, the CHP said a 32-year-old Los Banos man was driving a Toyota Tundra westbound on the highway east of Lovers Lane and the Palo Alto ma was driving a Toyota Sienna eastbound.

The CHP said that for an unknown reason, the Sienna crossed the double yellow lines and hit the Tundra. The driver of the Sienna died of his injuries. The driver of the Tundra was taken to San Jose Regional Medical Center with major injuries and his 23-year-old female passenger from Palo Alto was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, but it is still under investigation. Highway 152 was closed in both directions for about three and a half hours as a result of the crash.

Witnesses are asked to call Officer Amy Tritenbach at 408-848-2324.

PREVIOUS STORY: One man is dead in a fatal car accident. The California Highway Patrol says it happened at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday.

The CHP says a woman in the same car suffered moderate injuries. A person in a second car suffered major injuries. It happened at Lovers Lane and Highway 152 near Gilroy Wednesday morning.

The CHP says the road will be closed until 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
