Next round of shutoffs in Santa Cruz County expected to start at 10 p.m.

Pacific Gas and Electric is getting ready for another power shutoff Tuesday evening, and it is expected to start at around 10 p.m. in Santa Cruz County.

About 5,408 customers and 280 medical baseline customers will be affected near Boulder Creek, Davenport and other unincorporated areas of Santa Cruz County.

In total, about 597,000 customers will be affected by this shutoff that is expected to last from Tuesday evening into midday Wednesday. Some areas affected by this most recent shutoff were also impacted by one starting on Saturday. About 400,000 customers statewide affected by Saturday’s outage will remain without power going into Tuesday’s shutoff.

About 573,954 customers affected by Saturday’s outage have had their power restored, including customers in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. PG&E said restoration time for Saturday’s shutoff has been complicated by the number of transmission lines included that take longer to reenergize.
