Police: Lock downs lifted at Seaside schools, no suspicious person found

UPDATE 10/15/2019 2:00 a.m. Seaside Police say they do not know if there will be police at schools Tuesday morning but do say the search for the suspect is ongoing. They added that they are still trying to determine if the gun pictured was real or fake.

UPDATE 10/14/2019 1:00 p.m. Seaside police said lock downs have been lifted at area schools.

There was a report of a man in the area with what may have been a rifle, but officers said they did not find anything suspicious. They will continue to patrol the area throughout the day.

PREVIOUS STORY: Seaside police said in a social media post that Seaside High, Seaside Middle and other area schools are locked down after reports of a man seen with what may be a rifle.

Police said the man was reportedly seen walking westbound near 5100 Coe Avenue. Police said he is described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts.

Officers are in the area and using drones to search for the man.

The schools are on “shelter in place” status.
