Salinas man runs into light pole trying to run from deputies, Sheriff’s officials say

Two men are behind bars, following a probation search in Salinas on Friday.

Monterey County Sheriff’s Office officials say they have been looking into the criminal activity of 43-year-old Gabriel Martinez of Salinas.

On Friday, Detectives conducted a probation search at the home of 29-year-old Dylan Conlan of Salinas in the 2300 block of North Main Street where they knew Martinez frequented.

As Detectives arrived at the residence, they say Martinez tried to escape. But they say a light pole stopped him dead in his tracks.

During the investigation, Detectives located electronics, watches and a guitar believed to be stolen in Monterey County. They also seized a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and money.

Throughout the past few months officials say they have seized over 11 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 1 pound of heroin and over $8,000 from Martinez.

Conlan was arrested for narcotics related charges and violating his probation. Martinez was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail on an several narcotics related charges, committing a crime while out on bail and violating his probation.
