PG&E addresses issues with website ahead of power shutoff
If you are having issues looking at outage information on PG&E’s website, you are not the only one.
PG&E said that on Monday it started preparing for increased traffic on the site, doubling database capacity, but the website is seeing seven or eight times the normal traffic and a significant increase in calls.
As a result of the increased traffic, PG&E said the website has operated slowly and many customers are getting an error message.
A spokesperson for PG&E said that the utility is working to address the issue by increasing the capacity of its servers, increasing the number of requests the site can handle and developing other ways to communicate outage information.
The spokesperson also said PG&E is posting updates on its Twitter page, @PGE4me, and is encouraging customers to check that.
