Power restored for thousands of residents in South Monterey County

UPDATE: The power has been restored for thousands of residents in South Monterey County.

The cause of the outage is still unknown.

PREVIOUS STORY:

PG&E is investigating a massive power outage in South Monterey County.

According to PG&E’s website, 5,494 customers were impacted by the outage as of 8:20 p.m. Friday, September 27th.

The outage started at 7:46 p.m.

A PG&E spokesperson told KION 5,070 customers in King City are in the dark. The remaining impacted customers are in Lockwood and San Lucas.

The exact cause is unconfirmed. Crews are continuing to investigate.

There is no exact time of restoration, but multiple personnel are on scene working as quickly as possible.
