Semi-truck driver hits fire hydrant in Salinas

California Water Service is working to repair a fire hydrant that was hit by a semi-truck in Salinas.

It happened at Salinas Street and Alisal Street around 7 p.m.

Crews were able to stop the flow of water from the hydrant about an hour after it happened.

Salinas Police told KION the truck driver kept going hitting the side of the building on 60 Alisal Street and the hydrant.

The side of the building was damaged and police said the truck was also damaged.

According to police, the driver wasn’t paying attention when it happened and the trailer of the semi went over the side of the sidewalk as the person kept driving.

No one was hurt.

Police said the driver could face charges.
