All Monterey County 8th graders to attend “Hamilton” in San Francisco

The Dan and Lillian King Foundation announced Friday that every 8th grade student in Monterey County will attend the musical “Hamilton” at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco.

Nearly nine thousand students will attend matinee performances in the fall of 2019, but that may extend to February of 2020 to make sure no student is excluded.

“The focus of our Foundation is simple and direct: the kids,” said Executive Director of the King Foundation Stephen Collins. “We’re attempting to do something that may well never have been done anywhere else- assure that every 8th grader has a chance to learn about history and the Constitution through the magic of ‘Hamilton.'”

It is a collaborative effort between the King Foundation, Broadway San Francisco and the Monterey County Office of Education.
