Pink salmon spotted in San Lorenzo River lagoon for first time in a century
The Santa Cruz Water Department made a rare find on Thursday.
Department staff and biologists from Hagar Environmental Science found thousands of steelhead, but also some pink salmon in the San Lorenzo River Lagoon.
The water department said it cannot find another recorded sighting of pink salmon in the San Lorenzo River since 1915.
