People beating heat at Santa Cruz County Fair after dark
Folks all over the Central Coast came out Friday night to the Santa Cruz County Fair once the temperature dropped a bit.
“It’s been hot. Today was really hot. And the crowds have been kind of slow,” said Ann Hall, a Watsonville resident.
“It was really hot, then it turned really cold,” said Jaxon, a child who came with his family to the fair.
Volunteers at the Santa Cruz County Fair say because of the heat during the day, many people don’t show up. But if you’re selling ice cream, big heat means good business.
“Business has been better than usual,” said Larry Rollins, an ice cream vendor.
Arizona resident Larry Rollins is the owner of Wende’s Homemade Ice Cream. The hot weather has customers trying to beat the heat with a cool scoop.
“Well they gravitate towards ice cream here at the fair because it’s homemade, and this is the only spot to go and get homemade ice cream,” said Rollins.
“I would say this is probably one of the hottest fairs in the last ten years I think for during the week,” said Hall.
If you still want to make it out to the fair, you have a chance. The Santa Cruz County Fair runs until Sunday this weekend.
