Two arrested for King City homicide, also tied to Greenfield shootings

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office confirms with KION that the two people arrested for shooting at homes in Greenfield are also the suspects in a Wednesday morning homicide outside King City.
27-year-old Ubaldo Reyes Martinez and 25-year-old Imeldo Ramirez Merino are accused of killing 42-year-old Benito Canales-Godinez.
The shooting was on the 52000 block of Oaises Road, after 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Two Greenfield men were arrested in connection with three shootings at uninhabited dwellings.
On May 23 at around 9:16 p.m., Greenfield police responded to a report of a shooting at an uninhabited dwelling in the 200 block of Tom Rodgers Circle. When officers arrived, they found a residence and vehicle that had been hit by gunfire.
Just after that, officers got another report of a shooting at an uninhabited dwelling, this one in the 600 block of Maple. Officers found a house hit by gunfire.
Officers received a third call about a shooting at an uninhabited dwelling later. They responded to the 200 block of Apple and found a vehicle and house hit by gunfire.
There were no injuries as a result of the shootings, and several shell casings were found at each location.
Police turned the investigation over to the Major Crimes Unit. Police said the evidence, which included witness statements and shell casings, led them to the identity of the suspects. The Major Crimes Unit obtained search and arrest warrants. On July 31, investigators served the warrants. Investigators said they found evidence related to the crimes and the weapon used.
Major Crimes Unit investigators arrested 27-year-old Ubaldo Reyes Martinez and 25-year-old Imeldo Ramirez Merino on suspicion of shooting at an unoccupied vehicle or building and drive-by shooting from a vehicle.
Investigators said during an interview, the suspects admitted to the crimes. Both were booked into the Monterey County Jail.
