Advisory lifted at Monterey Municipal Beach
UPDATE 7/25/2019 12:20 p.m. A beach advisory in place at Monterey Municipal Beach was lifted on Thursday.
Monterey Peninsula Beaches said samples show that bacteria counts are back at a level that is considered safe.
PREVIOUS STORY: An advisory has been posted at Monterey Municipal Beach after high levels of bacteria were found. The advisory will be in place until samples show that bacteria levels have returned to a safe level.
High levels of bacteria increase the risk of illness. Bacteria could come from a number of sources, such as marine life, rain runoff, storm drain and human activity.
