Squirrel captured after biting people in Santa Cruz escapes

Emily the squirrel, who was captured after she bit several people on Cedar and Maple Streets, has escaped.

Native Animal Rescue said Emily chewed a hole in the box they kept her in and got out through that hole before they brought her into the Native Animal Rescue facility.

They said she ran across the street. They spent some time looking for her, but she was nowhere to be found.

Her babies are still being cared for by a Native Animal Rescue volunteer who helped with squirrels in the past. The babies are doing fine.
