Gilroy family rescued after boat pushed into rocks near Pebble Beach

A Gilroy family was rescued after their boat was pushed into the rocks south of the China Rock area.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call of a boat in distress. The family of three had launched their boat from Moss Landing for a day of fishing, but started to have engine trouble and lost power off the coast of Spanish Bay.

The current pushed the boat into rocks, but the family was able to get out without injuries. A person who helped the family get off the boat had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office, Cal Fire, State Parks, AMR, Pebble Beach Security and the Coast Guard worked together in the rescue effort.
