Georgia baby dies after mother drops it during a fight
A mother in Georgia is facing felony murder and child neglect charges after she was seen dropping her baby during a fight. The baby later died.
It was caught on surveillance video outside of a beauty supply store. The mother, Karen Harrison, is in a red shirt holding the three-month-old.
Harrison was hit by another woman near a car, and suddenly, the baby is no longer in her hands. People nearby picked the baby up while others tried to break up the fight.
Police said Harrison took the baby to the hospital the next day and said it fell at home.
“It’s very disturbing that, you know, two adults would fight in a public place, especially while holding a 3-month-old child in her arms,” said Lt. Freddie Williams with Moultrie police.
Harrison is facing a number of charges, but the other woman involved in the fight has not been charged. Police said they are continuing to investigate.
