Watsonville man accused of filming himself sexually assaulting children

A Watsonville man is behind bars accused of filming himself sexually assaulting at least two children.

According to Watsonville Police, 24-year-old Travis Hernandez was arrested at his apartment on Blackburn Street and booked into Jail Monday night.

He’s being held without bail because of a prior felony conviction.

Police said the case was forwarded to the Watsonville Police Department after the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force got a cyber tip of suspicious activity on his Google account from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Watsonville Police detectives worked with the ICAC Task Force to discover Hernandez made child pornography while sexually assaulting at least two children on separate occasions.

Hernandez admitted to sexually assaulting the children shown in the videos. Both victims have been identified.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation and officers don’t know if there are more victims.

Hernandez is facing multiple charges of child pornography and child sexual assault. He’s expected to be in court Thursday morning.

Anyone with information is being asked to call Detective Rudy Lopez at 831-768-3357 or Detective Nelson Hernandez at 831-768-3358.

The Watsonville Police Department is a member of the Silicon Valley ICAC Task Force, which is managed by the San Jose Police Department.
