Portola Hotel and surrounding businesses no longer under boil advisory

UPDATE 7/18/2019 1:40 p.m. A boil water advisory that was in place near the Custom House Plaza has been canceled.

It was put in place after a water main break on Monday in downtown Monterey. Businesses at the Del Monte Corner of Washington to Alvarado and in the Custom House Plaza were without water, but water was restored Monday afternoon.

As a precaution, CalAm issued a boil water advisory while it conducted water quality monitoring. CalAm said the water is safe and there is no longer a need to boil water.

PREVIOUS STORY: CalAm said the Portola Hotel and businesses directly adjacent leading to the wharf to it are under a boil advisory.

The businesses were left without water on Monday after a water main break, but their water has been restored.

CalAm said it is running samples, and the advisory will be lifted once samples come back clean.
