Diver pulled from waters at San Carlos Beach

A diver is in hospital after bystanders pulled him from the waters near the Coast Guard Pier at San Carlos Beach Saturday afternoon.

Captain Jason Smith with Monterey Fire Department confirmed that bystanders were already administering CPR when first responders arrived on the scene after receiving the call at 2:39 p.m.

The Monterey Police Department, California State Parks and American Medical Response (AMR) also responded.

AMR has since transported the diver to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. AMR responders continued to perform CPR during the transportation.
