Monterey police share story of man’s journey to sobriety

Monterey police shared the story of a man who was homeless and addicted to meth who now has housing and has been sober for more than 30 days.

The man they refer to as S.N. reached out to the Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team for help. Police say he had been addicted to meth for 10 years and had been homeless in Monterey for two years.

S.N. spoke to other homeless people MDOT helped, and they referred him to Sgt. Pinkas. They say Pinkas along with a Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula social worker got S.N. into a housing and drug addiction program.

Community Human Services provided him housing and treatment, and now he has been sober for more than 30 days. Monterey police say they are proud of S.N.’s commitment to sober living and that they wish him the best of luck.
