Police make drug and weapons bust in Soledad

Salinas police, along with federal, state and other agencies, made a major drug and weapons bust in Soledad Wednesday.

Carlos Chavez, 18, was arrested after officers searched a home in the 100 block of Serrano Place and found six unregistered firearms, ammunition, cash, and a quantity of drugs.

One of the rifles seized was an AK47.

In all, police found three rifles, one shotgun, and two handguns. They also seized 500 Xanax pills, U.S. currency, over 500 rounds of ammunition, a 50-round drum magazine for one of the rifles, 250 THC cartridges, and 275 THC edibles.

Salinas police believe Chavez was transporting and selling narcotics throughout Monterey County.

He was booked into the Monterey County Jail on various gun and drug charges.
