One person killed, one arrested, in rural Greenfield crash
One person was killed and the driver was arrested after a crash in the rural Greenfield area, Thursday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol says that at approximately 2:55 p.m., Jose Flores Orellana, 21, of Salinas, was driving east with two passengers on Arroyo Seco Road, east of Clark Road. Orellana was allegedly speeding. The car went “partially” off the road, spun across both lanes of Arroyo Seco, and dove into a dirt embankment of an irrigation ditch before rolling several times.
All three occupants were wearing their seatbelt, but one of them, Salinas resident Jose Antonio Menjivar, was killed. Orellana and another passenger suffered minor injuries.
Orellana was arrested at the scene for manslaughter and felony DUI.
